This is a small two level table constructed from Australian hardwood; stringybark or ash, I think. Probably about 1940s. Dimensions are 420mm square, 700mm high, lower shelf 400mm from floor. It is an attractive item with good proportions, useful in the corner of a room with a lamp on. It is in good, clean condition, the surface smooth to touch. The original grain filler, dark stain and polish has largely been removed to show some of the original timber colour. The colour over the piece is not consistent, the flat surfaces being generally lighter than the legs. In the past the table has been polished with shellac and then waxed. The colour balance in the photos is not entirely accurate. There is some marking due to water damage; this is more evident on the lower shelf. Click on photos for a larger image.
